"In The Armoire"

Hello, I am Adrianna, the owner of "In The Armoire", known to my friends and customers as "Jil." Yes, with one "l."
It amazes me how long I have loved PINK.....I have always thought of myself as more of a blue girl, but I will come across something from the past and it will be PINK not blue. I have loved roses long before they became all the rage....our home has always had beautiful roses in the upholstery, pillows, etc. and bouquets of roses often thru the year and roses in the garden.
It was a natural progression from the Country style to start making things Shabby and Cottage in the pretty soft pinks with, of course, roses.....so, you will find from me sachets, pillows, bags, angels, pretty towels, and many more delightful items to romance your Cottage. Having a deep love for all things vintage, you will find vintage offerings and new offerings with vintage adornments......

We invite you to add your name to the guest book and sign up for our mailings of newly added items....Don't forget to add us to your bookmarks, too!

Thanks for stopping by and visiting "The Ruffled Rose" our newest shop at Shabby Cottage Shops, you'll find them on the front page!

Memorial Day ~ What's the True Meaning?

As we celebrate this very special day, remember it's not about having cookouts, partying or finding a special item on sale for Memorial Day! It's about all those who sacrified their lives so we could be free! The fallen angels, the families of the many who gave their lives and believed in our country's freedom.

I sent a newsletter out late last night as a tribute to Sgt. Amanda Pinson and added some videos from You Tube which were so very touching, they do bring tears to your eyes! However, I was so saddened to see some of the awful comments which were left by a few! It's so hurtful to think there are some who express such awful thoughts about not only the soliders, sailors and all involved with giving their lives for us to be free, but their families too! It is because of all of these fallen angels who believe in the Red, White and Blue, we are able to live in a country who believes in all of the rights we are so lucky to have!

May those who are fighting to keep us free, be safe and come home to the beautiful United States of America which you have protected! God Bless you and America!

Here's a beautiful poem I found and it does say it all!

Memorial Day
by Michelle R. Christman

As we stand here looking
At the flags upon these graves
Know these flags represent
A few of the true American brave

They fought for their Country
As man has through all of time
Except that these soldiers lying here
Fought for your country and mine

As we all are gathered here
To pay them our respect
Let's pass this word to others
It's what they would expect

I'm sure that they would do it
If it were me or you
To show we did not die in vein
But for the red, white and blue.

Let's pass on to our children
And to those who never knew
What these soldiers died for
It's the least we can do

Let's not forget their families
Great pain they had to bear
Losing a son, father or husband
They need to know we still care

No matter which war was fought
On the day that they died
I stand here looking at these flags
Filled with American pride.

So as the bugler plays out Taps
With its sweet and eerie sound
Pray for these soldiers lying here
In this sacred, hallowed ground.

Take home with you a sense of pride
You were here Memorial Day.
Celebrating the way Americans should
On this solemnest of days.

So let's remember the true meaning of Memorial Day, and thank all those who died so we might be free!
